KentuckianaWorks
KentuckianaWorks is the workforce development agency of Louisville's Metro Government, overseen by a business-led board of directors. We aim to create a workforce system that benefits employers and job seekers by promoting quality jobs, high skills, competitive wages and life-long learning.
Established as a Workforce Investment Board (WIB) in July of 1999, KentuckianaWorks has become a key partner in preparing and promoting Greater Louisville to the top of the nation's list of the most competitive cities. Our charge is to project what the workplace will demand, and support resources and services to prepare our citizens to successfully participate in the workforce. From making sure students learn to read early and well, to promoting completion of post-secondary education and adult retraining, we are working to make sure connections are made along the way toward gainful employment.
Goals
The KentuckianaWorks Board is positioned to address three major economic and workforce investment goals:
- Raising educational attainment levels of our citizens - from GEDs to Ph.D.s
- Creating a responsive workforce system that meets the needs of employers and economic development professionals
- Aiming for and achieving quantum change, not just incremental progress - to move Greater Louisville into a new competitive position.
