Federal & State Financial Aid
Federal Pell Grant
The grant is awarded to individuals who have not earned their first bachelor's degree. Information from FAFSA determines eligibility. In addition, the individual must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, maintain academic progress, attend classes at least part time, not owe a grant refund, and not have a defaulted student loan.
KHEAA Work Study
Students, who are in financial need, are residents of Kentucky, and attending a Kentucky eligible postsecondary school, are awarded employment that is career related.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
The grant is awarded to undergraduate students who have the lowest Expected Family Income (EFC) at the discretion of the school. Students must be in compliance with Pell grant eligibility.
Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES)
Kentucky high school students earn money based on their GPA and ACT scores. GED recipients earn scholarship from scores accomplished on the ACT. Students must complete core curriculum requirements, attend a Kentucky postsecondary institution, and not have a felony conviction.
Federal Work-Study
FWS provides jobs for undergraduate and graduate students who are in compliance with Pell Grant eligibility to assist with the cost of attendance. The postsecondary institution determines availability of these jobs.
Indiana Higher Education Award
This grant is awarded to Indiana residents who are high school graduates or have a GED certificate by August 31 of every school year. A student must demonstrate financial need and have not been convicted of a felony or a crime involving narcotics. A student must attend an approved Indiana postsecondary Institution as a full-time student. Filing deadline date: U.S. Department of Education must receive FAFSA before March 10 annually.
Federal Perkins Loan
Low interest loans for undergraduate and graduate students with exceptional financial need are available to meet the cost of attendance. The postsecondary institution determines availability and amount.
Freedom of Choice
This grant has the same qualifications as the Indiana Higher Education Award. It is available to students attending eligible independent postsecondary institutions. Filing deadline date: U.S. Department of Education must receive FAFSA by March 10 annually.
FFEL Stafford or Direct Federal Loan
Federal Family Loan Program or the William D. Ford Direct Loan Program provides student loans to cover the cost of attendance minus the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and amounts of other financial aid received, such as federal and state grants.
Twenty First Century Scholars Program
Scholarships are awarded to low-income students in Indiana who start participation in the eight grade, pledge to stay drug and alcohol free throughout high school and college, maintain minimum of a 2.0 GPA, and graduate high school. Funds may be used to apply to any Indiana public or private college.
College Access Program (CAP)
This grant is awarded to Kentucky residents attending Kentucky eligible postsecondary institutions. It is awarded to students with the most financial need. Information from FAFSA determines eligibility. In addition, the individual must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, maintain academic progress, enroll for at least six credit hours per semester, not owe a grant refund, and not have a student loan in default status. Filing priority date: March 15 annually.
Veterans Benefits
Students with records of military service may apply for a certificate of eligibility for V.A. Educational Benefits. Dependents of veterans who died or were totally disabled as a result of military service may be eligible. Filing deadline is 60 days prior to the start of classes. Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG)
This grant is awarded to full time students who have financial need and are Kentucky residents attending an eligible, private postsecondary institution. Students must be enrolled full-time and working towards the completion of an associate's or baccalaureate degree. Filing priority date: March 15 annually.
Vocational Rehabilitation Educational Assistance
