Tips for Middle School Students
- Develop strong study skills.
- Start thinking about which classes will best prepare you for high school.
- Get INVOLVED in extracurricular activities.
- Get to know your teachers, school counselors, and ETS counselors.
- Find a place to volunteer. It's a wonderful way to give back to your community, meet new people, learn new things, and explore careers.

- Do your best in school and at home.
- Start thinking about what you want to do when you grow up.
- Find a mentor, someone you want to be like. It could be a teacher, someone in your church, a family member, or any other positive person.
- Be your own person. Be a leader, but remember that in being a leader, you have to be a follower at times in order to learn.
- Visit the high school you are planning to attend, shadow a high school student.
- Ask your church synagogue or community center to create a panel of high school students to discuss the difference in middle school and high school.
- Take challenging courses in middle school to prepare you for high school.
- Check the school's Web site to gather information about academic offerings, clubs and activities.
- Don't be shy to ask questions, and try to depend on knowledgeable sources.
